Shock tools effectively reduce the dynamic load on the drill bit, which increases its lifetime and reduces the number of runs. By separating drill bit axial vibration from drill string, shock tools reduce axial, lateral, and twisting vibrations of the drill string and the related fatigue damage or destruction of thread connections.
